Staff to launch a packaging shift

The plant lacked line operators and packers to launch an additional shift. Workin built the candidate profile, ran sourcing, screening, the document route, arrival and preparation for the first day on site.

Who had to be hired

  • Packaging line operators
  • Packers
  • General workers on the area
  • Shift lead speaking the group's working language

Project constraints

  • Sanitary requirements for food production staff
  • Shift schedule and work in cold zones
  • Housing needed close to the plant
  • The group has to start together, not one by one

01The company's starting position

The food plant planned an additional shift on the packaging area. The local labour market responded poorly, and part of the hired candidates never reached their first day.

02The Workin approach

Together with the plant, Workin described the candidate profile: operations, physical requirements, sanitary rules, schedule and living conditions. The project was then run as a single route - from the first application to the first day on the line.

03Sourcing and screening

Candidates were selected by production experience and readiness for shift work. Each went through a video interview, document check and a basic background check. The plant approved every profile before paperwork started.

04Document route

For approved candidates Workin ran the document route: work permit, visa and migration documents where required, translations and legalisation. Timelines and the package were fixed before submission.

05Arrival and housing

Arrival was planned in groups against the shift launch date. Workin arranged the pickup, transfer to the city, housing and a living briefing. Housing and its equipment were approved by the plant before move-in.

06First day at work

Before the first day the group received a briefing in Ukrainian and in its working language, and a coordinator was present on site. Passes, workwear and shift questions were closed on the spot.

07Support after the start

After the shift started, the project coordinator stayed with it: living questions, housing and transport issues within the contract, and a direct line to the shift manager.

Project outcome

Workin assembled and prepared the group, took it through the document route and organised the start of the additional shift. The plant received a clear arrival and launch schedule.
